As we prepare for International Migrants Day on December 18th below is a resource donated to the coalition by the Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson Arizona. Known for their long history of Sanctuary work and current day immigrant and worker justice involvement they have a Migrant’s Sunday every year. Below is the liturgy written by their current pastor Rev. Alison Harrington.
Southside Migrant Sunday Liturgy
Call to Worship
We gather from East and West, from North and South
Estamos cruzando fronteras, encontramos a Dios
(Crossing borders, we encounter God)
We gather young and old, men and women, documented and undocumented
Estamos cruzando fronteras, encontramos a Dios
We gather to worship the God of all nations and peoples
Estamos cruzando fronteras, encontramos a Dios
We gather to praise the One whose love knows no borders
Estamos cruzando fronteras, encontramos a Dios
We gather to be strengthened as we work for justice and peace
Estamos cruzando fronteras, encontramos a Dios
We gather with the faith and the hope
that one day the desert will once again bloom with life
that one day the love we carry in our hearts will matter more than the documents we carry in our hands
and that one day the walls will come tumbling down
And all God’s people shall live together in peace!
