TUESDAY NIGHT IS FAMILY NIGHT: Call Congress EVERY TUESDAY for FAMILY UNITY in IMMIGRATION REFORM

TUESDAY NIGHT IS FAMILY NIGHT

Call Congress THIS TUESDAY and EVERY TUESDAY

for FAMILY UNITY in Immigration Reform!

Make Tuesday Night Family Night. Play a board game. Call a loved one.

Then call 1-866-940-2439 to leave committee members a voicemail.

Background: As we advocate for immigration reform, we are opposed to provisions in the bipartisan immigration reform bill S.744 that would eliminate the ability of U.S. citizens to sponsor their siblings and married children over the age of 31.  Beginning as soon as June 10th, the Senate Judiciary will consider amendments to make it easier for these family members to be reunited. NOW is the time to let them know we SUPPORT amendments that would improve family unity.

Tell them that separated brothers and sisters should be reunited, and that children are children – regardless of age or married status – and no parent should be separated from their children.

Urge them to support amendments to the immigration reform bill to improve family unity.

“As a person of faith, I support immigration reform, but improvements must be made to the current bill to promote family unity. Separated brothers and sisters should be reunited. Children are children – regardless of age or married status, and parents should not be separated from their children.  Please support amendments to improve the ability of U.S. citizens to sponsor their siblings and married children over 30.”

Call early and often, and spread the word! Ask your friends, family members, neighbors, congregations, and communities to call EVERY Tuesday to send a strong message that people of faith care about family unity in immigration reform. While you’re at it, post a picture of your family on the IIC’s Facebook Page and share why family unity is important to you. Please share your stories at this link, including how families have benefited from reuniting, especially any examples that show the economic contribution that family unity has brought.

Please call 1-866-940-2439 twice each Tuesday to connect with both of your Senators. You can also call the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121, or go to www.senate.gov to call directly.
