Sisters of Charity say Vote Against Montana LR-121

The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth came to Helena and western Montana in 1868. When those pioneer Sisters arrived in Helena, the priests gave them their home because no lodging had yet been prepared; the sisters had traveled for days in a stagecoach. Similar welcoming attitudes have been expressed over the 150 years of our service with the people of Montana in pastoral ministry, education and health care. Others – ranchers, farmers and miners – also have been received hospitably.

As a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth, I join the voice of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in their continuous call for comprehensive immigration reform. In June, when the Supreme Court handed down their decision on Arizona’s immigration law, Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, chair of the U.S. Bishops Committee on Migration, responded.

Letter to the editor: LR-121 aims to fix problem Montana doesn’t have

Of all the referenda on the ballot this November, Legislative Referendum 121 really disturbs me. At a time when we are working to stay in the black fiscally, passing LR-121 just seems irresponsible and illogical. LR-121 seeks to deny certain state services to “illegal aliens” which theoretically could save the state money. Read More Here LINK
