Please join the Interfaith Immigration Coalition Thursday, August 16th from 3:30- 5:00 PM EDT for a special webinar about the new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. This call will be very timely – just one day after the official application process begins. We’ll be joined by United We DREAM and immigration lawyers to talk about the process, how to get involved, and to answer your questions. Among other things, we will discuss how congregations and community organizations can help DREAMers apply for deferred action.
The webinar will include a visual portion for those who RSVP, and there is also a call-in option. To participate, call 218.936.4700 and enter access code 657758. Please share this invitation with other congregations who might be interested in participating in this important work! Also, please submit QUESTIONS in the RSVP form that you would like to ask administrative officials in regards to the implementation process. Email Noel Andersen at nandersen@churchworldservice.org with any questions.
Background: This Administration’s decision to grant deferred action and work permits to DREAM Act – eligible youth has changed the landscape on immigration. Now, we are called to be allies in making sure the implementation of this decision happens as it should! There is much that congregations and refugee resettlement organizations can do to help. We can also build on this victory to get ready for a push for legislative reform in 2013 – since this administrative relief is only temporary and is not a replacement for the DREAM Act.
